New Building Project

It´s been a while since I posted here on my blog. There are some exciting things happening in our ministtry here in Satillo, Mexico. We are fixing up an old house to hold our church. We now have water and lights. Soon we will be fixin the walls and paint. We will also have to put in a new floor eventually.

Crusade

It's Growing!!

Our Church plant in Saltillo is growing! Once we took a step of FAITH to move into a larger facility in a better location we starting to grow! Yesterday, we batized 10 new believers in water! What a joy to see lives touched and changed by God´s love. Statisics show that church plants is the best way to win, culitivate the harvest and make disciples.
What a blessing to have Adam Cork visiting from New Braunfels, TX. He shared in our cell meeting Friday, our radio program and in the morning service. We are thankfful for his time with us and our congregation also recieved from his teaching.
There is still much work to be done, souls to reach, lives to restore and disciples to make. Jesus said, "I will build my church", what a joy to be an instrument in the building of God´s kingdom!

Gospel is the power of God

Romanos 1:16 says "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes...." The Word has power to change lives, power to save and heal. When we are not ashamed of it and share it with lost people they have the opportunity to find life. Here in Saltillo, we closed off a street and shared the Gospel, on this night three people accepted Christ and were set free.

The love of Christ motivates us!

For some people it is dificult to know what motivates a person to be a missionary. Why would a person leave family, country, financial stability and comfort to go to a strange land. Paul the apostle figured it out when he said that the love of Christ constrains us or motivates us. It a compassion from the heart to see God change lives and bless people that drives us. Got a call from a lady who listens to our radio program. We stopped in to see her and found a confused and hurting lady beaten up by religion. Once the light of God´s Word is sown and love is imparted the cloud of confusion is lifted and life comes. It´s the joy of seeing a drunk set free, a drug addict delivered or a rich snooty, high society person finially find peace to the tormented heart. This is what makes the so called sacrifice worth it all. Its looking outside of oneself and seeing that what matters in life are the lives that are touched by ours. To see Jesus change a life makes it worth it all!

Just some thoughts on Missions

It´s the day after the 4th of July and living in a foreign country kinda takes the thrill and excitement from the holiday. In fact I didn´t realize it was the 4th until I read what my friends from the States were logging on Facebook. I listened to Ray Charles sing ¨America the Beautiful¨and tried to get into my patriotic spirit. I guess since we are pilgrims and foreigners in this planet, our devotion needs to be about God´s kingdom. Pride for ones country is valid, but how do we celebrate being citizens of Gods kingdom?
On another front, we took a couple of days to go to Morelia to visit Eli and speak at his church. What a blessing to see it grow from the conception in the front room of Eli´s mothers house. The church is growing and impacting the city and surronding area. The next day we had lunch with Pastor Moy and Linda in Irapuato where we started our first church. They are getting ready to open a Christian High School which will be the first in the city. They are packing out their auditorium every Sunday morning and have started a second service to accomadate the people.
Here in Saltillo our new church is starting to grow. It has been slow and a challenge of patience for me. The people here just don´t seem to understand how great of a guy I really am and that God has given me lots of wisdom and love for people. (LOL) Life on the mission field has its challenges. It would be great if folks back home would have the same passion and enthusiasm about missions as the missionary does. But God, the one who calls is the one who provides and meets every need. He is the Lord of the Harvest!

Fathers Day surprize

What a blessing to have Jason and family here for fathers day. Jason preached in our new congregation and Jason Jr wants to follow in his daddies shoes. It´s not often that family can come to visit on the mission field so when they come it is a super blessing.

Starting a church is a very challenging job. It can be dissapointing as you observe the "up´s and down´s" from week to week. Its a breath of fresh air when people come back for the second and third time to the services. I have discovered again that when a church meets the spiritual needs of the people, they will most likely return. Some churches give out food to the needy. Others offer programs to meet family needs. I think what people really want is to have their "heart" needs taken care of. The heart is the core of man and has a big hole in it that only God can fill. Once that hole is filled then people can enjoy Gods life and peace. We still have a long ways to go but I´m excited about the harvest that we are now seeing. Thanks for your prayers and support!

School of leaders

On Saturday, April 24th we started at the Impacto de Poder Church in Saltillo a School of leaders. This will be a nine month course that will develop the students to become efective soul winners and cell group leaders. Pastor Miguel Reyna is teaching one class and I the other. It will be interesting to see the growth in each student and watch them to mature to be a part of a team that will impact Mexico.

Folks getting free from Witchcraft

For some witchcraft and demons are made up in hollywood to thicken the plot to a thriller movie. Here in the area of Mexico where we live, witchcraft is quite common and many locals as well as visitors use it for different reasons. Some just want to know about the future, others want to place a curse on a family member or business. Young ladies go to witches for spells to be placed on the man of their dreams so that they will fall in love with her. Oigui boards, reading cards and palms might seem to be innocent enough but it opens the door for the demonic to operate in peoples lives. Recently in one of our conferences an elderly lady came wanting deliverance, she had paid lots of money over the years to Brujas and was now playing the consequences. She told me that she saw demons constantly, every night they come and dance on her bed and laugh at her. She was being tomented. The next week a 12 year old boy came with his mom for help. She had been involved with witchcraft over the years having one of the most popular occultic personalities come to personal treat her. The home sessions obviously began take effect on her boy. In his room he would see men dressed in a black tunic and they would talk to him. Different articles in his room would be moved and sometimes dissapear. He was afraid to be in his room at night. He later told he that he was suicidal being told by these visitors that his life was not worth anything. Now for the good news! Jesus said, "in my name you shall cast out demons." In both of these cases, when the name of Jesus was used in prayer the oppressing demons caused by witchcraft left both the lady and the boy. The lady exclaimed that she felt a load being lifted off and the mother the next day told me how her son slept all night for the first time in years and had peace in his heart. In Luke 4:18 Jesus said that he had come to set the captives free. There is a battle going on for the souls of men, thank God for the mighty name of Jesus and His power to set people free!

Grace Memorial Anniversary

What a blessing to be able to travel to New Braunfels to see our church family and celebrate their 10th year anniversary. There is nothing better than Texas BBQ, chicken and sausage, finger lickin good! Mexican food is good, I have no complaints, but when you haven´t tasted Texas cookin for a while it is much appreciated. I wanted to post some pics of the event, but found dead batteries in my camera.

After some shopping the next morning, got to see the most beautiful grand daughters along with their parents. Living in a foreign country makes it dificult to see family. So the moments spent with them are precious.

The church is starting to grow, as lives are touched and peoples needs are met the group begins to take shape. The radio program is a big blessing to the community and a wonderful way to become known. The other day we went to the hospital to pray for a man who had a heart attack and afterwards we were sitting in the lobby talking and a lady came up and asked if we were pastors, she reconized my voice from the radio and she asked us to come up and pray for her mother. The kingdom grows one soul at a time, addition will turn into multiplication and impacts the world.

New service

We just added a new Sunday evening service. It will be focused on healing the sick and teaching the Word. Our Friday evening Bible study is also growing, new people are coming and it is good to see them grow in their walk with the Lord.

New Church

Just 5 minutes from Saltillo is a quaint little town called Ramos Arizpe. Its population is 60,000 and has very few Bible beleiving churches so on February the 7th we held our first service with 30 people in attendance. Pastor Guiermo Lopéz from Cuernavaca shared the Word and the people were fed. We are expecting a big harvest of souls as His Kingdom grows in this area. Thanks for your prayers and support!!

Partners Needed!

The call for me to "GO" came at an early age! As the doors opened, I went! A pastor once said, "all you need to be used by God is enough money to get out of town." That sounded simple enough for me so off I went! It had been an interesting 34 years serving in different areas such as church planting, evangelism, pastoring and making disciples. The fruit speaks for itself.

For this new adventure I need partners to help with this phase of the ministry. It doesn´t take alot, just a commitment to pray and to give financially as the Lord leads you to. What is this project? I am planting a new church in the Saltillo area of Mexico that has over 1 million people. I need sponcers for my radio program every Sunday morning. The cost for one hour is just $50.00 US. God is moving in Saltillo

The radio program "Setting the Captives Free" here in Saltillo is impacting many lives. We have a live phone line that people use to call in with their prayer requests. The phone rings non stop during our hour progam. On Feb 7th, we are having our first Sunday morning service in a joining town called Ramos Arizpe. It has about 100,000 people and has a big need for the Gospel. There is an excitement and expectancy in the air to see what God is getting ready to do. What a blessing to be a part of the last day harvest!

It's hard to beleive that 2010 is here! The coming of the Lord is coming soon and urgency is in the air to reach the lost! A proven way to see permanant growth in God's kingdom is by raising up local churches. There people are won to the Lord and discipled, they grow and become mature believers and are able to win others. This year my goal is to start a local church in the city of Saltillo, Coah Mexico. My radio program has been warmly received and the healing conferences are touching lives so now it is time to take the next step. Jesus said, "I will build my church", this is comforting to know that He is leading the way in this project. Thanks for all of your prayers and support, Jesus is Lord!

It was great so spend Thanksgiving with my brothers, sister, mom and family in Washington State. Now its time to get back to work. On December the 6th I was back in Mexico at the radio station doing my weekly program, I was blessed to be given an additional hour. Many folks called in with testimonies of how the Lord is healing and answering prayer. In the evening we did another healing conference in Saltillo. People came out from hearing the radio program and many received from the Lord. Next month I am beleiving to see weekly meetings start up to continue to reach people for the Lord. Your prayers and support are appreciated very much. Together we can make a difference in Saltillo.

The Jungle Preacher

Ron Veach, the Jungle Preacher took the Gospel into areas where no one else would go. He traveled throughout Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and the Phillippines preaching to those in need of the Lord. He is the founder of "TrueVine Ministries" and has established churches and raised up local pastors. He had a heart for souls and was an intercessor. He will be missed but his legacy lives on. I couldn't of asked for a better example. He lived his life for others, loved my mom and was a great father. We will only know when we get to heaven the amount of souls that he impacted for Christ and how much the kingdom grew through his efforts.

Conference in Saltillo

What a good God we have. He really loves and wants to bless people. Through the radio program the invitation went out to come to hear the Word and see what God will do in their lives. In total about 80 showed up, 14 people accepted Jesus and there were multiple healings. God is good. A pastor heard about the meeting and offered to bring his praise team, what a blessing! Everything was provided! Next month we will have another conference and we are expecting for awesome things.

Taking the Gospel over the Air!

What a blessing to be able to share the "Good News" with Saltillo, Co Mexico. This is live! People call in with their prayer requests and we pray over the air for them. In an hour we get several calls. We get their name and information so that we can follow up during the week. There are so many hurting people that need for someone to just care for them. We get calls for healing, deliverance, family issues and finances.

On September 27, 2009 my adventure of faith took a big step. I was given the opportunity to start a radio program in Saltillo, Coa. This program is every Sunday morning for one hour. It covers all of the city of Saltillo as well as the surrounding areas. This is a step of faith as many are fearful to advance with the "Crisis" going on. I was reminded that in God's economy there is no crisis and never will be one. The Word says that "if we can believe all things are possible to him that believes." The name of the program is "Setting the captives Free." A seed sown will Grow!

In 1980 we started a church in Irapuato that has grown into a powerful congregation that is impacting the city, state, nation and world. What a joy to see the seed of God's word grow and change peoples lives. The service was filled with the presence of God. Life and freedom is contagious. With over 150 cell groups that meet every week in the city and surrounding towns, this congregation grows daily. The previous Thursday there were 3-400 men in the mens meeting!
What impresses me is the development of missions. Several couples including the pastors daughter and son in-law are sent to Oaxaca to reach villages that have not yet heard the gospel. The heart of this church is to send missionaries into the 10/40 window and reach the lost.
Pastor Moises and Linda have compassion for souls and are raising up a congregation that is impacting the nations.
What a blessing to see a dozen or so people accept Christ into their lives. This is what going is all about!

Saying good bye

It is time to wrap up my stay here in Morelia, pastor Eli is back in the saddle and is ready to go at it again. There is a cell meeting that went to every Friday in a colonia on the opposite side of the city. It has been wonderful to see the group grow to about 20 each friday. Sometimes a missionary shares and prays for people without knowing what if anything is going on until it is time to say "goodbye" and people begin to say what your life means to them. I heard stories of lives being touched, bodies healed and circumstances changed since my weekly visit with them. It brought tears to my eyes knowing that this is the reason for living, bringing God's kingdom and love to needy people. Last night was time to say "goodbye" to my new friends in Mariano Escobedo. Pure joy to see the smiles on their faces, joy in their hearts and the presence of God on their lives. Jesus said, "I am with you always even unto the end of the earth." Sometimes we don't know the difference we make in someones life until it is time to say "Goodbye."

Missionary work involves lots of seed sowing. Kids are the best soil to sow into.

Putting a smile on a childs face makes my day! Sometimes I wonder what goes on in their little brain. For the most part they are shy and its lots of work to get them to participate

The sower sows the seed of Gods Word. Its the seed sown that brings the harvest. The seed contains life, healing, prosperity and salvation.

The seed is sown into the hearts of man. It is the power of God and it changes lives.

Day at the Zoo!

AS you can see by these faces that these boys aren't very excited to visit their cousins. On the way to the zoo, I told them that we were going to visit cousins, Caleb the youngest said, "my cousins don't live here." Just wait, I responded, you will see. Spending time with pastors kids is a great investment of time and energy. The next generation of great men of God are in the formation period. Missionary work is divirse and seeds are sown in many different types of soil. Lord, let the seed grow!!

God is good!

I have been here in Morelia for a few weeks now filling in for pastor Eli while he recovers from surgery. He is doing well and should be back in the saddle soon. In the mean time it has been good to minister here in the church and to be involved sharing in Cell meetings and Missions. I have been back on the field for four months now and I am amazed at God's goodness and faithfulness. He is an awesome God and what a joy to be used by him. He is a God of second chances. In Mariano Escobedo at the entrance to our meeting place you will walk by this candy store. Profits are minimal and brings in enough to buy beans and rice. The Lord though is blessing this ederly lady for allowing us to come and share the Word with the community. There are so many ways to SERVE!

You can see the red chairs in the background where the people sit. Recently we have been meeting with light rain falling. This is Mariano Escobedo a fishing village about 30 minutes outside of Morelia. Most of the folks here do not know how to read. The method of teaching has to be modified. Every week though folks are memorizing verses and getting aquainted with the Lord. When you answer the call to "Go", you might find yourself serving in a place like this with some of the best people on earth. What a joy it is to serve!

This is pastor Moises walking down the isle with one of his daughters, Libna. She and her husband are missionaries to Oaxaca working among the unreached people in the mountain region. Moises is doing a wonderful work at a church we started in October of 1991. It now has an attendance of 1500 or so, who's counting, right? They tied the knot July 25th. Blessings to them!

This is my dilema, when I am out ministering I take my camera with me, what I need is someone who can take pictures of the event. Some of my volunteers are great! Others have no idea! Three weddings in three days! Party, party, party!! Yesterday in Sundays service, four people accepted Jesus! This is what its all about, reaching the lost and making disciples. Pondering and thinking about what really matters in life I find comfort in the words of Jesus, "Lay not up for yourselves treasure on earth but rather lay up treasures in heaven..." James said that our life is just a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. We only have one chance, need to make the most out of it! Thanks for your prayers and support.

This is a group of folks that are meeting weekly for bible study and fellowship. They are all new beleivers and have a hunger for the Lord. Today, Sunday, 8 people were accepted Christ into their lives here in Morelia. It is so good to see souls come to the Lord. I will be here in Morelia for several weeks helping out. Please pray for me, as you know there is a conflict brewing here and lives are being lost. Now is the time for Morelia, thanks for your prayers.

Mexico City

What a blessing to be in the largest city in the world! There is hunger in the people of Mexico to hear the Word of God. In the past years I have done many events with pastor Arturo Farela mostly with Indian groups in the mountains. It was good to see him again and to share in his congregation.

In the time of crisis many understand that their only hope is in the Lord. He is the source of everything we need. Gods loving kindness is given to all that ask for it

After service I was treated to a tasty meal prepared by churh ladies. Buen provecho!

Sunday evening I ministered in another church in Mexico City. Pastor Moises was kind to have me. Again the love of the Lord was poured out upon all that were present. God is so good!

Ocotlan, Jalisco

This is Chapala Lake in the State of Jalisco. It is about an hour from Guadalajara. This pic was taken on the back side of the church building. I thought of Jesus, teaching along the lake shore. There were about 100 in attendance and a sweet presence of the Lord.
Part of the challenge is to find someone to takes pics for me while I am ministering, this day I couldn't find anyone so pics are limited. These girls are enjoying a snack after service. Next sunday I will be in Mexico City.

Cuernavaca, Morelos

Cuernavaca is known as the City of Eternal Spring. The climate is almost perfect year around. It is one hour south of Mexico City and is a beautiful place. Pastor Guillermo and Paty Lopez have been working here for several years and their congregation is growing.
Part of my calling is to encourage pastors. Here in this picture, several of the congregation members are surrounding their pastors and are praying for them. It's so nice to see a congregation loving on their pastors.
Don't get me mixed with Elvis, I do like from time to time to play with the band and get some hands clapping and feet stomping. I think some were evening dancing, oh my!
This young man is Fernando, he came for the first time and accepted Christ into his heart. This absolutely fills my heart with joy and makes it all worth while. There are angels rejoicing in the heavens to see a sinner come to Jesus.

Morelia 13th Aniversary

Hard to beleive that 13 years ago I started a cell meeting in Morelia. Eli Lopez was a drug addict and a drunk when he accepted Christ into his life. He now is the pastor of this thriving congregation.
Folks come to this church looking for hope and help from the Lord. I met several young people who have been delivered from Drugs and are now serving the Lord.
David said, " I will look to the hills from where my help comes from, my help comes from the Lord...." Jesus is the miracle worker and knows how to meet every need. His power is available to all who come to him.
Sunday evening was the aniversay party. These young people did an dramatic presentation that shook the house. This is a very non-traditional life changing church that attracts young people to Christ.

Mariano Escobedo, Mexico

Mariano Escobedo is a fishing town outside of Morelia. The people here work hard to make a living. There are many needs in this area. Thank God that Jesus is the specialist for all kinds of needs.

It is always good to give the Lord thanks for his wonderful deeds and works.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Faith releases God's blessings in our lives.

Variety of opportunities

Last night, I was blessed to share with 10 young men in a informal, open cell group session. We discussed ministry, discipleship and the need to win souls for Christ. I was impressed with the committment that each man has to Christ and their willingness to give their best for HIM. Each one is willing to give of themselves and their time to see their church grow and people come to the Lord. I saw the desire they have to learn and to be discipled and also to disciple others. One sows another waters and God gives the increase!

On Sunday, June 7, 2009 I was invited to minister at a new Church in Irapauto. They started a few months ago and already have about 50 members. What a joy to see about 12 people accept Christ and experience God's awesome love and presence in their lives. Afterwards the pastor invited us to "Betos" Steak house and I had one of the best steaks ever. What a pleasure to be able to share the Gospel and enjoy a great meal.

Wow! How fast a month goes by! Someone more famous than I once said, "This one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." James said that our life is but a vapor, it soon will vanish. Jesus said, "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, for where your treasure is your heart will be also." It's amazin how a perfect God can use imperfect vessels. If we wait until we are "good enough" to be used by God, we will be waiting a long time. If we humbly ask him to use us, a broken and contrite spirit He will not despise. Thanks Grace Memorial Church for your generosity. Thanks pastor Rich for having a heart and a vision out side of your walls. Thanks for your prayers and support that allows me to share with others some of God's love and blessings!

Busy is Good!

It was good to see my Friends Jose and Veronia in Salamanca. Jose's family is growing and well as his congregation. From Friday through Sunday we enjoyed good music, prayer and ministry.

During the month of May I shared 16 times in churches or cell groups. There is hunger in this country for God to move. I'm glad that I am in the right place at the right time. My schedule for June is filling up as well. I can only expect for good things in the future. Thanks for all of your prayers and support.

I had a great time ministering to a group of cell leaders. What a joy to see men and women with a heart to win the lost and make disciples. There are 144 cell leaders and 165 cell groups. I taught on Ephesians 6:10 "Finally my breathern, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." Afterwards I enjoyed some good tacos prepared by one of the cell leaders. God is good all the time!

This was my means of transportation from Matamoros to Irapuato. Just a 15 hour ride. The blessing was that because of the flu scare there were only six passengers. Got to stretch my legs. I also realized I'm not as young as I used to be.

I'm staying in a rented room. It has a bed, TV, clothes rack and a community bath. Thank God for the fan, its hot here!

The day I arrived, I ministered in a drug rehabilitation center and 20 young men accepted Christ.

In Queretaro, 3-4 thousands folks gathered in a plaza to pray for Mexico. It was a great experience, healing will come to Mexico.

This is my son Jason, he is the president of True Vine Ministries. I was able to tag along and preach in two of the churches he oversees.

This is Pastor Jose Luis and his church put on a sunday dinner after service. It sure helps not to preach long when you can smell the food outside.

This is Pastor Juan Carlos, he and his wife are rebuilding a congregation and it was a joy to be able to encourage them to be patient and let the Lord build His Church.

Thank you to Grace Memorial Church for you lovely send off Sunday. The cake was wonderful and the best wishes truely were from the heart. I am blessed to have a church family that loves and cares for me. I took the rest of my belongings to the thrift store in Canyon Lake and now its time to load up my car and take off. Swine Flu

Take a deep breath, this too will pass! So many people have been concerned about the "Swine Flu" and me going to Mexico. I can't think of a better time to go than when the need is the greatest. I'm holding onto Psalm 91 and in it it says, "a thousand shall fall at thy right and ten thousand on your left but it shall not come near you." I guess that pretty much takes care of this problem. The hardest part right now is the wait! I'm ready to go! Thanks for your prayers and support.

On the Road again....

Willie Nelson is known for this famous song. It serves well for this first blog and describes quite literally what I will be doing. It all starts on May 3 in Matamoros Mexico. I will be ministering at a church called "John 3:16" and from there start my journey south into the heart of Mexico. This is a "faith Journey", I am leaving it all up to the Lord to lead and open doors. A pastor once said, "all you need to be used by God is enough money to get out of town." How True this statement has been in my life. In my next blog I will give some information to where to send any donation for this ministry. Jesus said, "Truly the harvest is great and labourers are few, pray the Lord of the Harvest to send for workers into the harvest."
